One day, there was a man walking for a long time in the hot arid desert. He was very exhausted because he was in a great thirst. He had run out of water and hadn’t drunk water for days. He kept on walking and walking slowly and saw everywhere if there was someone can help him. His steps were getting heavier and slower and he knew that he couldn’t survive for long if he didn’t overcome his thirst. He must found the water immediately to survive and got out of this dry desert. No plants, no water, only sand everywhere as far as his eyes looked at.After a while, luck came to him. There was another man in the desert with a camel walking toward him. The man was very excited and hoped the man could help him or gave him some water. Quickly, he ran into him and asked him directly, “Hi, mister. Please help me. I haven’t drunk water for days. I’m very thirsty now. I run out of supply of water. Would you please give me some water to drink? I don’t know where I can ask for help, there's nothing and nobody here. Fortunately, you’re here. So can you give me a help, please? Only you can help me because you’re the only one I meet in this desert.” Then the man said to him, “Of course. I will help you gladly. By the way, I have only a little supply of water. It’s only enough for one person. If I give you the water, it won’t be enough for me. But don’t worry, you will get the water and you can drink as much water as you want.” Immediately, he put out a sheet of silk and gave it to him and said, “Take this silk. It will help you. I can only help you more on this. Good luck.” But the man scolded him, “All I need now is water. I don’t need everything but water. I’m very tired and thirsty, but why you give me such thing. It can’t help me more. Just say if you have no willing to help me, I’ll appreciate it.”The man on the camel explained, “Listen to me. Let me explain it to you first…” Before the man could explained, he got angrier and said, “I don’t need your explanation. I need water. Your explanation doesn’t help me better. Thanks. I must leave now.” And he left the man behind and walked away from him. He made a step by step and he felt greater thirst. He didn’t know when he would find the water. All he knew was that he must survived and found the water as quickly as possible.Another luck came to him. Finally, what he wanted most for a long time had appeared. He could see a fountain over there. The closer he walked, the clearer what he saw. It’s really water. He was in great excitement. With the energy left from his body, he ran into the fountain guarded by a man. Before he could take the fresh water, the guard immediately stopped him and said, “You may drink as much water as you like, but there’s a rule you must know. Everybody who wants to drink this water, regardless who he/she is, must have a sheet of silk as payment of the water.” The man was in great shock. He regretted why he hadn’t taken the silk given previously by the man he met before.

They’re afraid of failure, they’re afraid of change, they’re afraid of trying something new or anything. Their fear withholds them to go ahead, so they still in their comfort zone, eventhough they realize that those opportunities can drive them into richer, better and more successful life.So promise to yourself to take action when good opportunities come to your life, and remember that there’s no second chance, it comes only once in a lifetime. One day, there was a boy well-known for his bad behavior. He was a prude, had low self-esteem and nobody wanted to make him friend. He passed his day after day alone in boredom. He was also an orphan. His parents had left him when he was a child. He lived with his beloved grandmother. He never began to do everything because of his shyness, he had no friend to play with because of his shyness to meet people. In essence, he was extremely low in self esteem. He was a coward.His grandma was pity on him, but nothing she could do to help his grandson. One day, when she was going to the market, he saw a quite big unique doll. When she looked at it, she reminded of his grandson and suddenly he had good idea to help him. Then she bought the doll and asked the seller to bring it home because it’s quite heavy.One day, the grandma told her grandson to go to the house yard. When they both were at the house yard, she showed him the doll she’d bought at the market.And she said, “Look at the doll, my grandson. I bought it for you. Maybe I can help you by giving you this big fatty doll.” And her grandson asked, “What is this doll for? And moreover, this doll isn’t beautiful and quite big, I don’t like it.” And she immediately told her grandson, “My grandson, can you please smack it down using your whole power?” However, his grandson was confused and asked, “Why grandma asked me to do that?” And she said, “Just do it. I’ll tell you later.” He hit the doll, and fantastically it couldn’t fall down, just wiggling. Once again, He hit the doll more strongly with his great power and again, the doll didn’t fall down. He started to wonder. No matter how strong and how many times he hit the doll, it stood steadily and couldn’t fall.The big fatty doll couldn’t fall down because there was a heavy object put inside and at the bottom of the doll. So it would never fall down no matter how hard her grandson tried to smack it down. Her grandson gave up and still the doll stood steadily. Then she told her grandson, “My grandson, have you seen that the doll can’t fall down. It always stands steadily no matter how strong you’re trying break it down. You must be like this doll--strong, never give up and keep standing tall no matter how hard life is and how many barriers waiting for you. When you fall, you must stand up and if you fall down again, stand up one more time, fall down and stand up one more time. You must stand tall more than falling down. If you’re about to give up and feel bad about it, please come to this doll and smack it down, then see it keep standing sturdily.” The boy cried and embraced his grandma. He was thankful to her and promise to her and himself to be like the doll. At the next days, he was happier and braver than ever and had many friends and there was no more shyness, low self esteem, coward and giving-up in his life.

One day, there was a young boy who was always bored with his life. Everything around him made him bored, so he wanted to immediately pass his day. He didn’t like his own boring life; he didn’t like what he did everyday and he didn’t like who he was. Sometimes he wished to jump into the future life and left everything around that made him in absolutely great boredom.One day, he was taking a walk in a park and took a seat on a bench. Beside him, there was an old wise man who had been there before the young boy did. Then they looked at each other, but they didn’t have conversation. Because the young boy was very bored, he started the conversation to the old man and said, “Hi, old man. Excuse me, I just want to have some conversation with you because I’m very bored now and everything always makes me bored. I don’t know why. I always dislike this life. It’s very boring. I know you’re old and must have been living for many years and have much experience. Do you have some advice for me to overcome my problem? Your advice can probably help me.”After listening to the young boy’s complaint, he kept silence for a while and the young boy waited for his answer patiently. Then the man started to talk to the young boy and said, “Young boy. I know your complaint well. But you’re still so young and if I explain to you about my opinion, you won’t understand. I have a solution for you, and I hope this will give you an unforgettable lesson.”Then he put out a long rope and gave it to the young boy and said, “This is a rope. This is time rope. This rope symbolizes the length of your own life. Whenever you are bored with your day, you can simply cut it off and you will jump from your today’s life into your future. But you should remember that the longer you cut this rope, the longer you will go to your future. Your life will be over if it has already been used up. So I hope you can use it wisely and don’t be reckless.”And the young boy was so excited by the old man giving him the rope and said, “Oh. Thank you so much. This is what I look for. By having this rope in my hand, I won’t see the boring things anymore. Thanks a lot, old man. I’m glad to meet you.” And he brought the rope with him.The next days, when he found that he was bored that day, he remembered the rope and he finally cut the rope and suddenly everything around him changed and he had been in the future. He was so excited. He thought that the rope was so helpful. Whenever he was bored and sad or any problems came to him, he cut the rope and jump into future. But he cut the rope too often and one day he finally realized that his age increased too fast and he had been old that day. But it was too late. His life would be over because of his cutting the rope too often. He knew that he was wrong and it’s too late to redeem his big mistake. Then he cried aloud because he regretted why he didn’t enjoy his life and always bored when he was young. But he knew that he was unable to go back to the past.While crying, the old man who gave him the rope appeared. Then the young boy [who had been old] ran into and asked him to give help. And the wise old man said, “Finally you’re aware of what you’ve done. No matter how bored you are with your own life or how hard life is, you must enjoy it because this life is beautiful if you ignore and let the bad things away from you. I hope you can use your time wisely and don’t ever be bored from now on. Fortunately, your time hasn’t been up already and you have one more chance for redeeming your fault.”Then the old man took the rope away from the young boy and said, “This rope is no longer yours. So it doesn’t represent your life anymore. Now you can go back to your last time before I met you.”And suddenly he had been in a park sitting on a bench, but the old man wasn’t there. He was also excited in realizing that he was still young. He had come back to his present life and showed his gratitude. He promised to himself to enjoy his life no matter how boring it was and would pass his days happily.

One day, there was a village where rain hadn’t fallen for years. The village was in the bad condition, supply of water decreased, plants died, ground was dry. Nothing the villagers could do to handle that condition. They surrendered, they didn’t know what to do. Responding to the situation, there’s a priest in the village whom the villagers fully respected. The priest gathered all of them in a field and said, “Our place hasn’t been raining for a long time. That isn’t good for us. So I ask for all of you to say a prayer to the God to pour our place with the rain. I believe the God will hear our prayer, each of us must pray for that. We can do that at night before sleeping. Would you like to do that?” The villagers answer with no doubt, “Of course. We’re going to do that gladly.” The priest announced, “And we will pray together tomorrow at noon here.” And they dismissed. At the next day, the villagers came to the field to pray together as the priest had told them the day before. A few moments later, the priest came and standing in front of them. He asked, “Have all of you prayed to the God last night?” And they replied, “Of course. We prayed heartily.” The priest asked once again, “Have all of you prayed last night?” They replied, “Yes, absolutely. We believe in faith God will reply our prayer.” Then the priest said, “No, you don’t. If you truly believe God will answer your prayer, and believe it’s going to rain today, why don’t all of you bring umbrella?”

There was a girl named Joanna. She was a very good girl. She was very poor and so kind that sometimes she had only a crust of bread to eat, she would gladly hand it over if anyone asked for it.

Seeing so much goodness in her, a magician decided to test her and came to her house to give her a beautiful white hen. The next day, she went to see if the hen laid an egg for her breakfast and … what a surprise! The hen laid an egg, but it was made of solid gold. It was a golden egg.

She jumped with joy and took it straight to show her mother and together they went to a jeweler and sold it. With the money they received for that precious egg, they were able to buy many things they needed—delicious food, beautiful clothes, shoes and many more. From that day forward, she was rich and became a disagreeable and miser little girl. On one occasion, she kicked a little boy out of her house when he asked for a crust of bread.

The day after he had treated the boy badly, she went as usual to collect the precious golden eggs laid by the hen. But what a surprise. She was shocked. All that she found was fat eggs—eggs that people usually eat. “What is this? Where are the golden eggs?” Asked Joanna angrily. “Cluck, cluck, cluck.” The hen said. “I’ll give you cluck, cluck, cluck, you bad hen! Aren’t you ashamed of laying such rubbish?” She shouted. Then she began to beat the hen with her broom. The poor hen was very frightened by the rage of the girl.

The next day, the magician appeared to her. He said, “It’s not the fault of the hen that it’s not laying golden eggs. It’s your behavior in not being charitable to the poor, so I’ve punished you. I will not make the hen laying any more golden eggs until you change your ways and mend your fault.”

Then the magician disappeared from her sight and she finally lost her golden eggs because the hen laid only eggs, not golden eggs.

So it’s not surprising that the richest people are the most charitable people because they know that by giving they’ll receive more. You will not be poor by giving to someone. It’s exciting to give someone what we have and see them happier.

It was also applied by Anthony Robbins, World #1 success coach. When he was very poor, he had no money to buy turkey for Thanksgiving Day. But suddenly someone knocked his door. When the door was opened, nobody was there. He saw nobody. But the turkey was left in front of the door and a message. The message stated that the turkey was the gift for him and he was asked to give the turkey to the poor whenever he was able to do that someday like the man knocked his door did. After he was very famous and successful, he remembered the message and did exactly what the man gave him turkey had done at every Thanksgiving Day. That’s the power of giving. By giving, we show our gratitude.

Gratitude itself is a powerful tool to boost and drive you higher into your success. If you’ve ever read “The science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles written in 1910 and the book or movie “The Secret”, you’ll exactly know that gratitude is an important part of getting what you truly want. I will explain it in another article.

As conclusion of the story above, the little girl could no longer to collect or receive golden eggs just because she didn’t give the little boy and even kicked him out when he asked for a crust of bread, whereas she was rich. She wasn’t charitable enough so the magician decided not to give her more golden eggs. So, if you want to give, give it heartily.
